Lord Mawson's presentation is the latest in the popular series of Cambridge Network open events, which last week featured David Kester, CEO of the Design Council. He inspired a big audience in the Hauser Forum with projects that are making a difference in homes, businesses and hospitals around the country.
Lord Mawson, who will be at the SmartLIFE Low Carbon Centre, Cambridge Regional College, Kings Hedges Road, Cambridge, CB4 2QT, from 6pm on June 13th, is passionate about social entrepreneurship: "We often can’t see what is right in front of our noses. When Tesco arrived in Bromley-by-Bow, East London, shortly after I had arrived as a young Minister in the neighbourhood some thirty years ago, many didn’t see the benefits of entrepreneurial partnerships even though we had 39% unemployment at the time and a real need for work opportunity. My passion to make a lasting difference began with local people and their stories, and not with policies, statistics and theory."
Additionally, Tim Jones CEO of Future Business, Cambridge's own social enterprise business support service, will also give a short overview of their social investment bonds work (under the parent company name of Allia) and/or the (Future Business) activity of workspace and business support for social enterprises and charities.
