Cambridge-based firms have long been a fixture of the Innovation Awards final, and 2015 is no exception:
Anvil Semiconductors will be hoping for victory in the Start-up and Sustainability awards. Their shortlisted innovation replaces silicon with silicon carbide (SiC) at no additional cost – the replacement is known to significantly improve power conversion efficiencies but high cost has been a prohibitive factor until now.
The international CompHealth Consortium, which includes engineers at the Brunel Innovation Centre at Granta Park, is nominated for an automated radio-frequency scanner for non-destructive testing of carbon composites. They are shortlisted for the Manufacturing Technology and Measurement in Action awards.
Also in the Manufacturing category, Huntingdon-based Munters Ltd have been shortlisted for their Drytainer, which uses desiccant technology to help hauliers move goods in a high quality dry environment.
The winners of all 15 award categories will be revealed at the black-tie dinner and ceremony on 18 November, at The Brewery in London. Host for the evening is television presenter Ortis Deley, best known for his work on Channel 5’s The Gadget Show.
