Cambridge mediation guru honoured to attend Queens Garden Party

John Crawley, veteran mediator and mediation trainer based in Cambridgeshire, is looking forward to a conflict-free afternoon at the Queen's Buckingham Palace Garden Party. John was nominated by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills for his work developing standards and promoting mediation with the Civil Mediation Council. John's mission is to use mediation and resolution skills to get the best out of people. 'I'm so honoured. I'm confident I'll not be mediating on the day!'

Over the past 25 years, John has been invited into companies, government agencies, charities and many other organisations to help them improve the way they deal with conflict. 'I've been called the grandfather of workplace mediation' says John 'which captures how I feel connected to the people I've trained and mentored and dedicated to supporting mediation.'

The Department for Business Innovation and Skills nominated John for his work developing standards and promoting mediation with the Civil Mediation Council. 'I'm so honored. I'm confident I'll not be mediating on the day! Garden parties have a great reputation for bringing diverse people together.'

John is optimistic about the future of mediation: 'Mediation is still a fledgling profession, but there are real opportunities for enterprising, imaginative dispute resolution experts.'

John's mission is to use mediation and resolution skills to get the most out of people. He has recently set up a new company - John Crawley Mediation-  so that people can access his skills and experience directly.

'I've been in a big, multi-capability consultancy, but wanted to get back to my roots: mediation - mediation - mediation,' he said.
