Cambridge Network member websites archived for posterity by The British Library

Cambridge Network members approached by The British Library, to have their websites archived in a special Cambridge Network collection, are encouraged to participate. The archive is intended to become a valuable digital resource documenting the evolution of the vibrant high technology cluster of Cambridge businesses and academic institutions.

The archive will grow over time. The Library aims to download selected websites on an ongoing basis to cover the development of Cambridge Network member organisations, and subsequently make them available to the public via its website at http://www.webarchive.org.uk/

Archiving is free and does not normally require any effort. All those whose sites are selected are emailed by The British Library and can speed up the process by responding positively.  Members also have the ability to opt out if desired.

The Library's collection policy stipulates that it prioritises the selection of websites which:

- Reflect the diversity of lives, interests and activities throughout the UK.
- Contain research value or are of research interest.
- Feature political, cultural, social and economic events of national interest.

The Cambridge Network and the British Library have agreed that archiving member sites would be desirable, and to work towards that in conjunction with members.  More information about copyright and how your archived website will be made available can be found in The Library's FAQs.
