Cambridge Summer Beer Festival sets new records

The 43rd annual Cambridge Summer Beer Festival has come to a close, serving over 41,000 customers a total of 86,000 pints of beer, 13,000 pints of cider and perry, 9,300 pints of foreign beer, 1,600 bottles of wine and mead and approximately 1 tonne of cheese. Over 400 volunteers gave up their time to help, coming from as far as Canada.

Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, this year’s charity, raised over £10,000 for their essential work supporting in patient care across Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals.

Bert Kenward, Festival organiser, was particularly pleased with the number of customers visiting. “It was our largest ever festival. I think this shows that interest in real ales, perries and ciders. I’d particularly like to thank our volunteers, without whom we would not be able to run the event”

Additionally, Cambridge CAMRA ran its usual competition to find the best beer, cider, perry and meads of the festival.
