Jimmy’s needed long life produce and provided a wish list including cereal, soup, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes, pasta sauce, lentils, beans and pulses, tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tea and coffee, tinned fruit, biscuits, UHT milk, and fruit juice.
The Cambridge raised the money by donating £2 on behalf of each employee who completed the Best Employers Eastern Region’s Culture and Engagement Survey.
Earlier this year employees of The Cambridge voted to support Jimmy’s Cambridge as its charity of the year for 2023.
Jimmy’s is a community-based charity that provides housing and support for rough sleepers in Cambridge and opened the first all-year round night shelter.
The Cambridge’s People Manager, Louise Harper, said: “The feedback we receive from the Culture and Engagement Survey is so important to us because it helps shape our organisation and our success can only be achieved through our people.”
“Our aim is to empower our teams to think differently with integrity and expertise, and that includes finding new opportunities to help the most vulnerable in our local communities through team member incentives like this one.”
Community Engagement Officer at Jimmy’s, Barry Griffiths, said: “We are tremendously grateful to be The Cambridge’s Charity of the Year and for their support of the work we do to aid rough sleeping in Cambridge.
“We help more than 250 individuals each year across our East Road and 451 hostels plus our move on houses in Cambridge. This food donation means we’re able to provide much needed nourishment to those in desperate need of support, thank you!”
If you’d like to donate, Jimmy's is open 24/7 but between 10am and 6pm is the best time to donate supplies. If you are dropping off items during the day you can call their main reception on 01223 576085 and someone will be on hand to collect your contribution.
