Rowing is a very popular sport at Cambridge University – well over 1500 students compete for their college every year. Trinity College's boat club is the biggest and one of the most successful clubs on the river. Each year up to a hundred new students learn to row from scratch, many of whom go on to represent the college, and in some cases the University. About 10% of the college are active members of the boat club at any one time, and around 90% of Trinity undergraduates try rowing at some point in their college career.
Both the women’s and men’s squads occupy extremely high positions in the ‘Bumps’ – the traditional Cambridge University races on the River Cam – and the last two years have seen record numbers of wins in all types of boats and over all distances on the Cam. Cantab is delighted to be supporting First and Third this year, and look forward to cheering the crews to victory from the banks of the Cam!
