Delegates heard about the growth of Cambridge as a leading European cleantech hub, the launch of the Nottingham Low Carbon Plan, and Cleantech strategies for Birmingham, Hull and for Scotland.
The idea for a national event was the brainchild of Cambridge Cleantech CEO Martin Garratt and Neil Horsley of Cleantech Business Ltd. The two worked together in Nottingham a decade ago and now both are leading lights in the growth of the cleantech sector in the UK.
Martin Garratt, CEO of Cambridge Cleantech, comments: “We were delighted with the appetite shown for this first national event which was at capacity and which shows the great interest in the growth opportunity for the cleantech sector in the UK. We are now establishing a national cleantech forum for cleantech practitioners and look to hold a further national event in Cambridge next year."
Cambridge Cleantech is the members' organisation supporting the growth of environmental goods and services or “cleantech” companies in Greater Cambridge and across the region.
Our ambitious plans are to further develop Cambridge as a leading cleantech centre in Europe and in doing so help promote the next wave of the Cambridge hi-tech cluster. Cambridge Cleantech encourages supply chain opportunities for companies in the sector, enables shared experience of innovative growth businesses and provides collective services such as access to finance, government regulatory updates and links to international partners.
