The Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce will be speaking at The Moller Centre on Tuesday night to promote the country’s rapidly evolving economy and will make the case for Cambridgeshire companies to seek out new opportunities to trade products and services with Egypt.
Speaking ahead of the event Taher El Sherif, Secretary-General at the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce, said: “Egypt’s fast-growing, young population of 90 million, diverse and expanding economy and its strategic location make it an ideal regional and global business hub. Egypt is turning a new leaf, it is entering a period of political and economic stability. I am very excited to be given the opportunity to explain how a reform-minded government has embarked on an ambitious programme to stimulate the Egyptian economy by launching a number of major projects.”
The free event, taking place at The Moller Centre in Cambridge on Tuesday 24 November, will also be attended by Sir David Blatherwick, former UK Ambassador to Egypt.
Fiona Tester, International Trade Manager at Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “We’re delighted to be facilitating connections between Cambridgeshire’s exporters and some of the most knowledgeable experts on the Egyptian marketplace. We often find that people perceive Egypt to be a difficult market to succeed in but with the right advice and support from partner organisations like the Chamber and UKTI, and connections with key contacts at the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce, companies have an incredibly high chance of success. Last month the Chamber processed export documentation for goods valued at over £1 million, so we know first-hand that there are genuine opportunities for exporters providing food stuffs, scientific and technical products, security products, precious metals, pharmaceuticals and engines to name just a few of the most prominent sectors.”
The free event is sponsored by Cintra Translation, a Cambridge-based company that specialises in interpreting and translation services for business and government.
