Christmas is for giving! Method offers 45 hours of time to help local charities

Cambridge based integrated communications agency Method Creative is giving its staff a full working day to volunteer at a local charity of their choice in the run-up to Christmas.

Arthur Rank Hospice; Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Bedfordshire Wildlife Trust, The Green Backyard, Blue Cross and Camsight are just some of the organisations in line to benefit from Method’s new campaign ‘Christmas is for giving’. The team is getting involved in a number of ways, from offering its services for practical and vital tasks that help each charity run smoothly, to contributing its own engagement expertise to the organisations.

Method’s founder Kirsten Corrigan says she couldn’t think of a better way to give back to the local community after a successful 2012 for the business. “We established our annual fundraising event Wacky Races as a way of raising physical cash for charity earlier this year. We now want to focus on providing the personal touch and offering our time to causes close to our hearts,” she said.

Kirsten will be spending her day helping run the tea bar at Arthur Rank House.  Dr Lynn Morgan, chief executive at Arthur Rank Hospice said Method’s Christmas campaign is timely as Kirsten has recently taken on the role of ambassador for the charity. “We are really pleased to have Kirsten working with us for a day to see what goes into a typical day at Arthur Rank. Method’s Christmas campaign is a great way to give back the local community at such an important time of year, and her day with us is a positive way to mark the start of her official journey with Arthur Rank,” she said.

Relationship manager Laura Wing has been busy organising the logistics of the campaign. She said that the team is really motivated by the chance to spend the day giving something back that’s personal to them. “The team has been busy preparing for their days out of the office. It’s unusual to be given the chance to give something back in a personal way through work, so everyone is really excited,” she explained.

Social media lead Lorna Hopkins will be spending the day learning the ropes at animal re-homing centre, Blue Cross. Volunteer coordinator Emma Laflin says: “Having Lorna with us for the day will really help the Blue Cross in the run up to Christmas. So many animals come to us at this time of year so it’s vital we get plenty of volunteers in. We are lucky to receive generous monetary donations from the public and businesses all year round, but equally we always need an extra pair of hands to make sure the charity continues to run smoothly.”

Each team member will follow up their experience with a detailed blog post to share insight into the good work each charity does. Look out for these on Method’s website from early December.
