Community has fun at the Addenbrooke’s Rudolph Run!

Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT), the dedicated charity for Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals, held the first annual Christmas fun run at Addenbrooke’s – the Rudolph Run – on Sunday 1 December 2013.

Over 100 people turned up at Addenbrooke’s for the Rudolph Run including staff, former patients and their families. The run was open to all whether a walker, fun-runner or serious runner, child or adult.

The 5km fun run followed a route around the Cambridge Biomedical Campus where Addenbrooke’s is based. There was also a 3km route for children, infants in pushchairs and those with limited mobility. ACT mascots, Brooke Bear and Rosie Rabbit, along with many others also competed against one another on the 3km route.

Michelle Gray, ACT’s Head of Community Fundraising, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the turn out at the Rudolph Run, which we hope will become an annual event on the Cambridge calendar. Adults and children alike really got into the spirit of things and had fun running around Addenbrooke’s in antlers, a flashing red nose and fancy dress. Money has been raised for areas throughout Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie including our special appeals, the Healing Hearts Appeal and ACT on Cancer campaign. Thank you to everyone who helped make a difference for patients by taking part or sponsoring someone.”
