Conference venues link-in to social media training

The value of social media, how to assess its value, optimising individual platforms and developing a social media strategy were just some of the topics covered in a series of three sessions organised by Conference Cambridge for its member venues.

Over a three-month period, 29 delegates representing 15 venues attended the course which started with a primer introducing all aspects of the different social media networks, a second session which went into greater depth on how to use social media efficiently and a third and final session looking at the psychology of social media.

Conference Cambridge selected trainer Andrew Lloyd Gordon to deliver the sessions. Andrew, a qualified marketer and trainer with 17+ years digital marketing/consulting experience is a member of the CIM’s Professional Advisory board and a trainer for Google’s ‘We Are Squared’ programme. Andrew took the delegates through the different aspects of the subject, with each session comprising both theory and practical exercises.

Judith Sloane, Deputy Manager at Conference Cambridge said: “We organised these sessions following requests from our member venues for help with using social media as a promotional tool. There was an excellent response and enthusiastic feedback with delegates welcoming the opportunity to ask an expert and also to put what they had learned into practice during the exercises.”
