The county’s corporates come together to support local charities at Cambridgeshire County Day

Companies taking part in Cambridgeshire County Day are supporting a wide range of charitable causes as part of the once-in-a-lifetime event, including: raising valuable funds for the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital and Cambridgeshire Community Foundation’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund and boosting the profile of local charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Cambridgeshire County Day is a free celebration taking place on 23 June 2022 at the July Course, Newmarket, Cambridgeshire. The Day will celebrate and showcase the very best of Cambridgeshire’s people and organisations, while providing an unmissable opportunity to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The public will have a number of opportunities to donate funds to the Cambridge Children’s Hospital Campaign and Cambridgeshire Community Foundation’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund, if they wish, during the Day and can also donate via JustGiving now and in the lead up to the event.

Dr Cathy Walsh, Clinical Mental Health Lead at Cambridge Children's Hospital, comments: “The new Cambridge Children’s Hospital will enable us to treat the 1.5 million children and young people in the East of England in a whole new way, integrating mental and physical healthcare and having a life-changing impact. The UK Government has committed £100m to the project, but we need to match this with £100m in philanthropy and fundraising by 2025 to enable us to build this state-of-the-art hospital which will provide exceptional care, underpinned by world-leading research from the University of Cambridge. We are incredibly grateful of the generous support from events such as the Cambridgeshire County Day - together we can set a new standard for child health nationally and internationally.”

In addition to raising money for the two chosen charities, Cambridgeshire County Day will also provide a valuable platform for other local charities and non-for-profit organisations to raise awareness of their missions amongst the 6,000 members of the public, and 100 leading local businesses, anticipated to attend the Day.

Marshall, a lead sponsor of Cambridgeshire County Day, is donating a number of its exhibition space to local charities including: Abbey People, RAF Air Cadets, Macmillan Cancer Support and Arthur Rank Hospice. The organisations will have dedicated marquees to showcase the work they are doing in the local community.

Cheffins, a market leading firm of surveyors, property advisers and auctioneers and a Cambridgeshire County Day race sponsor, is donating its marquee to Harry Specters, a local chocolatier which creates employment opportunities for people with autism. Hybrid Software Group, which provides technology for industrial print manufacturing, is also donating a marquee to its chosen charity, The Wildlife Trusts, a federation of 46 independent wildlife conservation charities.

Set to be a highlight of the Best of Cambridgeshire exhibition, Grosvenor, the urban property, food and agtech business which has worked in the county for many decades, is sponsoring ‘The Grosvenor Charity Marquee’, which will provide free space for over 20 charities and not-for-profit organisations to exhibit, including It Takes a City, Tom’s Trust and Cambridgeshire Scouts.

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chris Parkhouse, Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, says: “Cambridgeshire County Day provides an unmissable opportunity for the county’s diverse and vibrant community to come together and get inspired by the best of Cambridgeshire businesses, charities and public sector organisations. With so many incredible people and organisations set to attend, we anticipate a wonderful day brimming with learning and inspiration, all while raising vital funds for the Cambridge Children’s Hospital Campaign and Cambridgeshire Community Foundation’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Fund, which has been established to support those with less means to fully take part in county life.”

In addition to the Best of Cambridgeshire Showcase, Cambridgeshire County Day will feature a variety of live performances and numerous static displays including tractors, diggers and emergency/military vehicles, all alongside a full day’s horse racing on the July Course.
