Cowan Court at Churchill College is open for business

The team at a Cambridge College is celebrating the completion of its new facilities – bedrooms and meeting space – on schedule.

Cowan Court at Churchill College is now finished and open for business, providing a further 68 en suite bedrooms and a multi-purpose meeting space named The Sixties Room, after a group of early students at the College.

The project which has taken 15 months to build, adds to the College’s portfolio of facilities in terms of conferences and events, taking the total of en suite bedrooms available for conferences out of term to 200, in addition to 200 standard rooms. These complement Churchill’s existing Dining Hall which can seat 400 and purpose-built Lecture Theatre for 300 and many other smaller spaces.

Cowan Court, named in honour of the Benefactor Fellow Michael Cowan, an alumnus of the College, also includes three fully accessible bedrooms for disabled visitors and residents.

Jennifer Brook, Bursar said: “We are delighted that Cowan Court is now completed and on schedule and would like to thank all the teams who have worked with us to achieve this. Over the next few weeks we will be welcoming our first conference guests and during September will be holding some Open Events to introduce our new facilities to College members and clients.”
