August 2024: Cambridge-based charity Creating Nature’s Corridors is experiencing a remarkable year so far, underpinning its impact and success through multiple award recognitions.

Founded by Vhari Russell in 2020, the charity has rapidly grown and made significant strides in environmental conservation, leading to it being shortlisted as a finalist for four prestigious awards this year alone.

Vhari is a finalist for the BBC Cambridgeshire Make a Difference Green Award. This award spotlights individuals and groups in Cambridgeshire who are making significant efforts to improve the local environment. The BBC praised Vhari for her dedication to environmental causes, placing her among the top contenders for this prized title..

In addition, Vhari has been recognized on a national level as a finalist for the National Women’s Business Awards in the 'Community Champion' category. This award honours women who dedicate their time and resources to businesses that give back to the community, an area where Vhari has excelled through her work with Creating Nature’s Corridors.

The charity itself has also been acknowledged as a finalist for two other significant accolades. It is a contender for the Cambridgeshire SME Awards in the 'Community Business of the Year' category, which recognizes organisations that prioritise community benefit and have a substantial impact on their local area. Additionally, Creating Nature’s Corridors is in the running for the Third Sector Awards in the 'Small Charity of the Year' category. Theses prestigious award, celebrating their  20th anniversary, honour outstanding achievements in the third sector and recognizes the power of collective action—an ethos which is at the heart of Creating Nature’s Corridors.

Finally, Vhari was honoured in July with the Hunts Forum Volunteer Rural Award. The judges commended Vhari's "remarkable determination and commitment," noting that under her leadership, the charity has not only achieved but doubled its initial targets. This recognition underscores the substantial contributions she has made to the charity's mission and its positive influence on the local environment.

These recognitions highlight the exceptional work of Vhari Russell and the charity, marking them as leaders in both environmental conservation and community engagement.
