The bespoke map-based tracker is the latest piece of functionality to be added to the site by Studio 24, Crossrail’s dedicated web agency.
Crossrail, Europe’s biggest engineering project, has launched a new online mapping tool, allowing users to track the progress of it’s tunnel boring machines (TBMs) as they construct new railway tunnels under central London.
The map allows users to see the progress of the TBMs over a 30 and 90 day period, giving up-to-date information about how far each TBM has travelled and the distance remaining for the tunnel drive.
Crossrail will use a total of eight tunnel boring machines to construct 21km of new twin-bore tunnels beneath the busy streets of London. As each TBM is launched users will be able to track it’s progress at www.crossrail.co.uk/near-you using the mapping tool, as well as search for current surface works taking place along the route.
