An event in Cambridge promises to help growing business explore alternatives to bank funding.

The Crowdlending Masterclass, organised by Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce in partnership with ArchOver, will provide an introduction to ‘crowdlending’ – a process where businesses raise money through the internet to generate secured and insured finance for their activities.

John Bridge OBE, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “Cambridgeshire is home to some of the country’s most innovative and ambitious companies, so it should come as no surprise that business owners here overcoming funding challenges by actively exploring new sources of investment capital. There is a growing demand for alternate sources of funding from businesses with strong growth plans and we’re looking forward to seeing firms in the area benefit from this new access to capital.”

The event is being held in partnership with ArchOver, the first crowdlending platform globally to offer secured and insured lending for businesses. By linking investors looking for a secure return with businesses wishing to raise working and development capital, ArchOver claims to offer the best security available anywhere over the internet worldwide.

Brian Basham, Executive Chairman of ArchOver, added: “We are delighted to be working with Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce to generate better understanding of this transformational new route to the working capital that companies must have if they are to survive, let alone generate economic growth.”

Businesses are being invited to come along to discover more about what crowdlending is and its place in the market, how it applies to different business models and the benefits it offers to borrowing plans.
