The first headline seminar is on cyber security which will be introduced by the Police and Crime Commissioner and run by Redpalm Technology Services which has just launched the cyber-security essential programme with the Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce.
Small businesses can be easy targets for cyber-attacks and statistics indicate that 60 per cent of small companies go out of business within six months of an attack. The new service will provide clarity on what essential security controls are required for businesses. Once a business is approved it can promote that it has met a Government approved cyber security scheme.
In addition, attendees can also benefit from a free one hour seminar on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which will come into force in May 2018.
GDPR will impose strict rules about data collection and usage that are more far reaching than the Data Protection Act. Organisations that fail to comply could receive fines of up to €20 million.
The seminar will be led by Mike Holland, Marketing and Communications Director at Olsen Metrix. As a member of professional groups such as the Data Protection Network and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Mike has attended several courses on GDPR. He will be packing several days of learning into one hour of useful tips.
John Bridge OBE DL, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce added: “On top of providing great networking opportunities with professionals from across Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire and Northamptonshire, the free seminar programme at the B2B Exhibition aims to inform delegates about a variety of topical issues so they can future-proof their business.
“Including cyber security and GDPR means we can offer vital support so businesses can enhance their security measures and improve their internal data systems ahead of the new regulations coming into force.”
The full seminar programme can now be viewed on the Peterborough B2B event website (peterboroughb2b.co.uk). Visitors can pre-register in advance via Eventbrite.
