Brendan Wilson and Kate Phinn are cycling from one end of Lincolnshire to the other and raising funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Their adventure is taking place this Saturday (24th September) – starting in Cleethorpes and ending in Peterborough – and between them they hope to raise more than £1,000.
The epic journey is about 92 miles and should take the hardy pair between ten and 12 hours.
Brendan said: “We’re really looking forward to our challenge.
“We know it’s going to be hard and our bums will be sore but we’ll keep on pedalling, fuelled by a huge sense of achievement knowing the money we raise will be helping so much.
“I wanted to support a children’s charity as I have five boys of my own – Jacob, 14, Oliver, 15, Isaac, 18, Kieran, 21, and Warren, 24.
“The thought of anything happening to them doesn’t bear thinking about.
“I did some research online and found EACH.
“It’s a fantastic charity and important the money we raise will also go towards supporting families, as well as helping children and young people.”
Brendan, 47, lives in Peterborough and is a contracts manager for Elite Decor UK Ltd.
He was inspired to take on the challenge after watching a television programme about Lincolnshire.
It showed a map of the county – sparking the idea to cycle from one end to the other.
“I’ve been wanting to do something for a children’s charity for a while and any donation, no matter how big or small, will be greatly appreciated,” he said.
“Kate is joining me and getting used to my spontaneous ideas. She’s just as passionate about raising as much as possible for EACH.
“This is going to be a great starter challenge and it’ll give us the confidence to undertake more charity fundraisers in the future.”
