The company, which has been refining digital-to-analogue conversion for 25 years, displayed exceptional IP management techniques and it has implemented strong IP-led processes which are designed to build value for shareholders.
Just behind DCS was Edinburgh-based LUX Assure, which researches, develops and markets technologies to solve real-life problems in the oil and gas industry.
In third place was another Edinburgh company, Speech Graphics, which creates cutting-edge facial animation technology to the entertainment industry. Scottish-headquartered global financial giant Standard Life was in sixth place.
The IP League Table is a new ranking of companies based on rating their strength and track record in exploiting their IP assets. Entrants underwent an assessment of IP-specific data linked to five key IP asset classes: brand and reputation, critical databases, software, patents and trade secrets.
The results of the assessment were used to calculate an IP score and subsequent ranking for each entrant.
Metis Partners created the IP League Table to highlight that IP can be protected and managed as an asset and can provide a business with a competitive advantage thereby increasing the overall business valuation.
Stephen Robertson, director and founder of Metis Partners, the award winning IP advisory firm, said: "Managing IP and recognising it as one of a business’s core assets is becoming increasingly important and both lenders and investors already recognise its significance in underpinning a robust and scalable business model.
"Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, headline sponsors of the IP League Table, recognise the value of IP and have been lending to IP-rich businesses for many years. We are excited by the opportunities the IP League Table offers to all entrants in accelerating the performance of their businesses.
“The companies in the League Table will now be able to identify areas for improvement in their IP management and to enhance their position in the next round of the IP League Table.
“We are eagerly anticipating the next wave of applicants as companies recognise the benefits they will get from being in the League Table, among which are raising their profile, greater market recognition from lenders and acquirers and establishing their companies’ innovative potential.”
Entries are now for the next IP League Table update which closes at the end of February 2016.
