Midway into the firm’s five year programme to help one million people get to where they want to be through access to education and employment, the initiative has already made an impact for over 475,000 people’s futures while contributing over £10 million to society*.
Deloitte is continuing the success of One Million Futures, the firm’s social impact initiative, with the launch of 13 new charity partners in June.
David Sproul, senior partner and Chief Executive of Deloitte UK, said: “Making an impact on one million futures was an ambitious target in jut five years, but through the commitment and goodwill of our people, we are making a positive impact in society. Together we’ve delivered 74 pro bono projects - valued at £1.85 million, and our people have given over 67,000 hours. With partnerships from Aberdeen to Jersey, we are committed to changing people’s futures.”
Much of the impact to date has been delivered through partnerships with over 50 charities, social enterprises and schools across the UK. Initiatives have included nurturing individuals through mentoring and employability skills workshops through to supporting organisations with their strategic ambitions.
The new charity partnerships will start on 1 June 2019 and will continue to focus on helping people get access to education and employment. Sproul continued: “Based on our experience of what works, these new and existing partnerships will enable our people to have an even greater impact in the communities in which we work. We have identified organisations that are supporting some of the hardest to reach groups in society and we will help them access learning and skills. Across our regions and nations, we are working with charities that are focused on having a positive impact in the local community. We are also refreshing our approach to working with social enterprises helping to focus accelerated business growth of ambitious and exciting social enterprises.”
A number of charity and social enterprise partnerships will be naturally concluding at the end of the current contract cycle on 31 May. New and continuing partnerships will start on 1 June.
East of England charity, Papworth Trust ,is one of the charities beginning its partnership with Deloitte.
Jo Revitt, corporate partnership fundraiser at Papworth Trust, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Deloitte under their One Million Futures social impact initiative.
“Papworth Trust has been making an impact on the lives of disabled people in Cambridgeshire and across the East of England for more than 100 years and this partnership will further enhance our crucial work.
“We look forward to working with staff at Deloitte and showcasing how their support will make a direct and positive impact on the lives of local disabled people through our key areas of housing, work, care and day services.”
Deloitte have been supporting Action for Children for the past three years and have raised funds via a number of sporting events including Deloitte Ride Across Britain, the Great Glen Hike and of course many cake related challenges and sales. Volunteering by Deloitte staff and the annual Impact Day have enabled Deloitte to help the charity practically too.
