Resources and tips for getting into the habit of learning Italian by One Stop Solutions:

If learning Italian is one of your New Year’s Resolutions, we’ve put together some information to help you get started.

This includes resources designed specifically for learning a new language, as well as more general tips on how to forge new habits.

Here are three of the best language learning resources currently available online:

1. Duolingo – popular and free and game-like, Duolingo is a great starting point for learning a language, with progressive, bite-sized lessons based on building vocabulary, constructing sentences and improving pronunciation.

2. Busuu – the world’s largest social language learning network, Busuu has a more flexible lesson structure so you can create your own study plan, and you can also chat to native speakers to develop your conversation skills.

3. Memrise – designed to help you learn new words and phrases quickly, Memrise is a flashcard-style resource that focuses its content (including video and audio clips) on real-life situations.

Once you’ve chosen your preferred website or app, you just need to get into the habit of using it regularly!

Here are some tips on how to really embed and enjoy your language learning:

• Start small – be realistic about what you can achieve and set small goals (at least at the start) to help you feel positive about keeping up your new habit.
• Build it into your routine – schedule a specific time each day for language learning and set reminders to make sure you don’t forget.
• Enlist support – keep motivated by joining in with communities of others learning online, and/or share your progress with your friends and family.

There’s a lot of great advice out there about building good habits, if you’re interested in finding out more; we can particularly recommend the book ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear.

At One Stop Language Solutions we are, understandably, very enthusiastic about the Italian language and would really encourage anyone interested in learning it to have a go.

Buona fortuna!
