The company is working with groups in Year 1 and Year 2 of the Club’s Apprentice Scheme.
In Year I the apprentices have been studying Business Awareness and How To Get A Job which includes visits to Domino’s UK headquarters to learn about identifying transferable skills and experiences, as well as taking part in a Recruitment and Selection Workshop to help with preparing a CV and interview role play.
With Year 2, the emphasis is on Career Planning including analysing skills, interests and motivations and then matching these to a career.
Paul Hockey, Group Learning and Development Manager at Domino said: “I am proud of the support Domino has provided to these St Ives FC apprentices. In a tough employment market for young people, and knowing, sadly, that many of the apprentices are unlikely to be able to secure a full-time career in football, the Club does excellent work in preparing them for this reality.
“Our support in helping apprentices understand a bit more about business, what values and skills employers are looking for, and ensuring they have the chance to create good quality CVs and receive advice on how to interview well, is something we can easily do and it benefits everyone involved.”
St Ives Town Football Club Education Programme is for two years and combines professional football coaching with educational studies. The Programme is sponsored by a number of local businesses including Domino.
