With a March fund pot worth £375,000, Localgiving.com will match every pound donated to local charities registered on its web site up to a maximum of £2,500.
With huge demand expected for the first match fund pot for 2012 and with just days in which to apply, Jane Darlington, CEO of Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, is recommending local charities and community groups act fast. She explains, “Doubling the value of online donations can give a massive boost to a charity or community group. In these difficult economic times, raising money for good local causes is a real challenge, so being able to increase any money raised is too good an opportunity to miss.”
Jane continued, “By making a donation to a favourite local charity via the Localgiving.com website during a match challenge, donors can double their gift and the charity receives twice the support. Gift Aid also gives another 25% too.”
Voluntary and community groups can make a significant difference to fundraising with the help of online donations. Cambridgeshire Community Foundation helps groups throughout the Cambridgeshire region and advises on the most effective way of increasing donations. It will shortly be announcing dates for a series of workshops aimed at supporting charities on how they can make the most of the opportunities provided through Localgiving.
Groups need to apply to the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation to register on www.localgiving.com as the Foundation vets all charities and community groups to make sure they are well structured and undertaking charitable projects of relevance to local communities. Registration on www.localgiving.com is free for three months and thereafter costs £60 plus VAT per annum. In return, charities can take advantage of match fund opportunities and online marketing and donation tools, while increasing their visibility to donors through a postcode search.
Over the coming months, Cambridgeshire Community Foundation will be announcing a series of other match fund initiatives and advises charities and local community groups to get in touch as soon as possible to find out more details.
About Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (CCF) www.cambscf.org.uk
Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (CCF) help individuals, families, and companies who want to give something back to Cambridgeshire. It aims to provide an efficient and simple way for donors to make a long-term difference to the communities in which they live and work by setting up and then managing charitable funds on their behalf.
Donors do not give “to” CCF but “through” the organisation to a wide range of vital projects throughout Cambridgeshire.
CCF acts as a “broker” for small, local organisations, helping them access these grants - connecting local donors who care with good causes that matter.
