Downing College event shows off new facilities

Event organisers were welcomed to Downing College recently as a thank you for their business during 2015 and to learn about new additions to the conference team and portfolio of facilities.

Guests were able to hear at first-hand about Battcock Lodge which has recently been completed, providing hotel-standard bedrooms and The Heong Gallery which is now open to the public. It will house a year-round programme of art exhibitions, including the inaugural show featuring British art from the private collection of Downing alumnus Sir Alan Bowness.

They were also briefed on the College’s green initiatives to help organisers achieve their Corporate Social Responsibility objectives, including the recent investment in a HOUSEWATER system on-site, reducing ‘water miles’ with re-usable bottles which can be filled with either still or sparkling filtered water.

The College’s award-winning catering was also showcased with a selection of canapés and bubbly.

Jacqui Cressey, Conference Services Manager at Downing College said: “We have very loyal clients who return year after year to hold events here and we wanted to thank them for their business. It was a perfect opportunity to talk about our latest facilities – including a tour of The Heong Gallery – and introduce the new members of our conference team.”

The event also provided the opportunity for Jacqui to be presented with a floral arrangement to celebrate her ten years at Downing College.
