A party of seven senior journalists representing MICE travel publications from across Europe has recently spent 36 hours in Cambridge, taking in the city’s finest locations.
Conference Cambridge, the official venue-finding services for the University of Cambridge, the Colleges and other unique properties in the area, played host to the delegation organised by the VisitEngland Business Visits and Events team.
The journalists sampled accommodation at Downing College and during their packed itinerary visited: Cambridge City Hotel for lunch; the Churchill Archives at Churchill College; Fitzwilliam Museum; King’s College; St John’s College; Hotel du Vin for dinner and the Møller Centre for breakfast.
They also looked in at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthology and the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences which are new additions to the Conference Cambridge portfolio and available for corporate events and exclusive drinks receptions.
The visit concluded with a Walking Tour with See Cambridge Differently and lunch at the Eagle, famed for being the place where Crick and Watson announced that they had discovered DNA.
The journalists work for travel publications in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy and Spain with a total targeted readership of over 100,000.
Kelly Vickers, Manager at Conference Cambridge said: “It was a great privilege to host this delegation on behalf of VisitEngland and to have the opportunity to showcase what Cambridge has to offer. Everyone was very enthusiastic about the places we included on the programme and we look forward to seeing press coverage in due course. Our particular thanks go to our venues who really went the extra mile to welcome the delegation and help us to tell the unique Cambridge story.”
