Event looks towards a smart new North-East Cambridge district

Cambridge Cleantech and Smart Cambridge invite you to an exciting event on Monday 14 October, focusing on how to build and transform the new North East Cambridge district, located between Cambridge North Station and Cambridge Science Park.

The organisers write:

The new North East Cambridge District comprises an area of over 160 hectares and includes the land between Cambridge North train station and Cambridge Science Park. The aim behind this event is to explore how we can realise the vision of North East Cambridge as a thriving, low-carbon hub for workers, individuals and families alike, and be a socially and economically inclusive, inherently walkable low-carbon place for innovative living and working.

With this in mind, we will be bringing together senior city authority planners, smart city practitioners, landowners, developers and solutions providers for this major development site of over 160 hectares, which the planners wish to see as an exemplar in smart city living. The event will include talks by representatives from Engie, Smart Cambridge and the Planning and Economic Development department of Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire. We will also cover the first Smart City in France, Dijon, and the Bicester Eco-Town in Oxfordshire.

North East Cambridge is already home to the Cambridge Science Park, a smart building complex hosting many innovative companies, and its Director Jeanette Walker together with Cambridge Cleantech CEO Martin Garratt will welcome the delegates.

“We are very excited to be welcoming innovative companies and experts to discuss how we can realise North East Cambridge’s potential to grow into a model for smart city living. Our goal is to help create an inclusive community known for its low-carbon credentials, sustainable transport and quality of life”, said Martin Garratt, CEO of Cambridge Cleantech.

Date: 14th October 2019, 09:00 – 13:00
