Pure and Deloitte have been running the Future FD Programme for seven years to help the next generation of finance professionals progress to a Financial Director (FD) level. The first workshop of the 2017/18 programme was held at Deloitte’s office at City House and focused on the topic of ‘The Science of Stress’. Delegates took part in interactive discussions on managing stress, building resilience and identifying stress within a team. Two current FDs were also guest speakers at the event, sharing their experience of stress and wellbeing in the workplace as well as providing an outline of their own career development.
Gill Buchanan, Director at Pure, said: “We’ve seen the roles and responsibilities of senior finance positions change significantly over the last decade. That’s why we’ve joined forces with Deloitte to help support the region’s up-and-coming financial talent to develop the skills needed to meet the increasing demands of the role. The aim is to help delegates to progress into leadership positions in which they can help to shape an organisation’s overall strategy, direction and culture, as well as instilling a financial approach and mind-set throughout the business.”
This workshop was the first of three sessions to be held over the next 12 months. The next events will take place in October 2017 and March 2018. The programme is delivered free of charge, in return for a £40 donation to the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). To date, the programme has raised more than £2,000 for the charity which supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across the region.
