National icon Gail Porter is coming to Cambridge as host for Mumford Live – an exciting comedy night with an added touch of music and magic. The event is taking place at the Mumford Theatre on Tuesday 16th April in aid of the Young Carers Fund, managed by Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
The event is being organised by a group of Anglia Ruskin students studying BA Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Management. These third year students hope to use the funds raised through this event to enable a real difference for the young carers of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
The Mumford Live team said: "A young carer is a child or young person who has a caring role related to a family member’s long-term illness, disability, mental health or alcohol/addiction problems. It can be very difficult for a young carer, particularly with regard to school performance, bullying and a loss of social life. We would like to use the money raised to increase the knowledge amongst teachers and other pupils about the problems facing young carers and thereby improve their quality of life”.
Award winning magician Robert Gough will be performing amazing tricks at the bar area before the show. As the audience takes their seat for the evening they will be greeted with a live performance from one of Cambridge University’s finest pianists, Sasha Millwood. The comedy will star former Cambridge Footlights President Matt Green, who is very much looking forward to his return to the city.
The evening is guaranteed to be one to remember: music, magic and comedy all hosted by the legendary Gail Porter. All of the proceeds raised from the night can make a huge impact to the lives’ of young carers in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
