Anglia Ruskin University has teamed up with Future Business, a leading Cambridge social enterprise, to present StartChange – a free one-day workshop on Thursday, 11 October.
StartChange is for those leading, starting or even just thinking about starting a social enterprise and need the tools and inspiration to build or improve their business.
The event will look in detail at real examples of local social enterprises and the different challenges they face; consider the funding options available to social enterprises at different stages; feature the views and thoughts of real social enterprise managers on how they have kept going and built up their operations; and give those starting out in social enterprise practical guidance on how to overcome barriers to success.
The workshop will be run by Senior Lecturer Andy Brady, Director of 3rd Sector Futures at Anglia Ruskin and an expert in social enterprise management. 3rd Sector Futures delivers a range of learning, research and consultancy services to charities and social enterprises, while Brady is also director of Social Enterprise East of England (SEEE) and on the board of Essex-based Voluntary Sector Training.
StartChange is a co-creation of the Centre for Enterprise Development and Research (CEDAR) at Anglia Ruskin and Cambridge-based Future Business.
“The last couple of years have seen a huge increase in people starting social enterprises in the UK,” said Brady. “Anglia Ruskin has been actively involved in this area and has been working with numerous social enterprises and charities from across the region. We’re looking forward to sharing this knowledge and experience on 11 October.”
