Green fingered staff from The Cambridge show their support for Addenbrooke's

Employees from local building society, The Cambridge, joined Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) and Addenbrooke’s Hospital’s gardening team recently to complete two days of volunteering.

Thirteen volunteers from The Cambridge tackled a piece of land at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and landscaped it, creating a lovely spot for patients, vistors and staff to enjoy for years to come.

Staff at The Cambridge supported ACT earlier this year as part of their Charity of the Month initiative and also sponsored ACT’s supporter event known as The Summer Celebration in June.

Mortgage advisor Karen Andrews, who organised the volunteers from The Cambridge, said: “We had an absolutely great time helping ACT out with the gardening. It’s so rewarding to see the transformation from patch of grass verge to lovely landscaping. Providing hands on support to our charities of the month is something all members of the team really look forward to. Being in the outdoors and doing physical work certainly makes a change from being in branch or head office!”

Carla Brown, Corporate Fundraising Mangager at ACT said: “We feel very grateful to The Cambridge’s staff for giving up time and energy to help the patients here at Addenbrooke’s.  There is no better way to spend a day away from your desk and I am so pleased they braved the elements to do some digging and planting!”
