It cements a plan to grow GWA’s product and system design offering alongside the more traditional individual engineering consultancy disciplines. The proposition is particularly start-up friendly, offering a cost-effective and nimble means to help tech-based start-ups stand up complex product and system innovations reliably and quickly.
“Duras brings a strong physics, simulation and systems design skillset which complements our implementation experience at GWA. We have proven this over the last few years completing major projects together in scientific instrumentation, medical and consumer electronics and notably with our recent work on linear accelerators at CERN. These days almost every proposition we see comprises some mix of hardware, firmware and cloud-based functionality and tackling the impact of this is as important as getting the individual design elements right. Issues such a safety, security, sustainability and compliance as well as performance are key to getting to market.”
GWA has been operating for 20 years and is based in St Johns Innovation Centre, Cambridge UK. Its core offerings include technical team leadership, electronics and wireless communications design alongside embedded firmware. It founders came from Philips wireless communications activity in the city in the 90’s.
Duras Consulting was established in 2018 by lead consultant Daniel Easton who studied Physics at the University of Cambridge. He has 20 years of product engineering experience across a range of companies from start ups to larger SMEs and as a Consultant Product Design Engineer.
“Formalising the Duras relationship with GWA builds on a history of successful collaborations and extends our collective capability and partner network giving us a broader product and systems engineering offering.”
