The listing was announced by Business Weekly newspaper last week with the hard-hitting headline: “PR puppets don’t produce a fitting image”.
With Prof Alan Barrell enthusing about the importance of marketing in a company’s activities, and Business Weekly suggesting that, for many businesses “their marketing sells them short”, it seems that the 2023 listing has been ruthless about which PR and communication experts have been included this year.
cofinitive's founder, Faye Holland says: “We agree with much in the article. There is no shortage of marketing agencies and freelancers in the region, and there is certainly enough work to go around – but a large chunk of our work in 2022 was picking up the pieces for many of our new clients after they had been delivered quick fix work without looking at the bigger picture.
“Good communications isn’t just about needing a rebrand or a new website – it’s much more integral to strategy than that. And that’s why cofinitive will always be strategy-led – so that we know that what we are delivering for our clients will generate the best traction for them at the right stage of their development. Our approach lends itself to being a true partner to the client, where we work to spot the opportunities out there, take up the role of critical-friend, and make the greatest impact for them. It’s also a partnership built on trust.”
Explaining why they had placed cofinitive in the Number 1 spot for the third year running, Business Weekly wrote: “What we really admire in marketers is their ability to tell a client what message they should be getting out there; where that message should be targeted – and to act as facilitators for broader and deeper dialogue…. cofinitive ticks all the boxes.”
Faye says: “My team are fastidious and passionate in their work – and, thankfully, our content gets placed where it matters and not in the bin!”
“We are deeply honoured to be included in these listings each year and will continue to dedicate ourselves to promoting our amazing tech innovators and companies.
“And living up to our ethos, we’ll continue doing all those other activities that support the ecosystem – whether its delivering innovation award programmes like #21toWatch every year, supporting entrepreneurship programmes out of the University, or investing in the Cambridge Tech Podcast with James Parton – our job is to place our clients and our network into the areas where they need to be seen.
