Help It Takes a City to provide safety and comfort

Crossways, It Takes a City's winter emergency accommodation project, reopens. The project will provide safety and comfort for up to 20 rough sleeping or vulnerably housed people in private, ensuite rooms. This article shows how the community are already coming together again, and how you can support our work.

The emergency accommodation project provides each guest with safety and comfort in one of twenty ensuite rooms. It Takes a City will once again be working closely with partner agencies to assist people in moving on to next stage accommodation that best meets their needs. You can read about last year’s project in this report.

It Takes a City says: We are incredibly grateful to our landlord, CATS Global Schools, for their continuing support, including new carpet in the lounge. They also donated the oven that you can see Eileen happily receiving. This will make the daily communal meals, a central part of the Crossways philosophy, much easier to prepare.

Due to the currently cost of living crisis, we are anticipating an increase in the numbers of people who find themselves rough sleeping or vulnerably housed. If you would like to make a donation to help make each guests stay with us as comfortable as possible, please see this list.

Once again, we are partnering with Cambridge Churches Homeless Project (CCHP), who are co-ordinating the volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, particularly as a head cook, for an overnight shift or for a weekend shift, please follow this link which will take you to the CCHP website, where you will find details of how to apply and the short form that needs to be completed.

Thanks in advance for your support.
