Mrs Walkinshaw had meetings and discussions with Sir Michael Marshall, Chairman of the Group of Companies; Steve Fitz-Gerald, Chief Executive Officer of Marshall Aerospace; Peter Callaghan, Chief Executive Officer Marshall Land Systems and Mr Jonathan Barker, Executive Director Marshall of Cambridge Airport Properties Ltd.
Sir Michael Marshall said: ‘We were delighted to welcome Penelope Walkinshaw to Marshall of Cambridge. This visit follows a long tradition of inviting successive High Sheriffs to visit the Company and we were very pleased that she was able to find the time to visit us and to meet so many of our employees.’
Mrs Walkinshaw said: ‘I was very pleased to be able to visit Marshall of Cambridge in my role as High Sheriff of the county and to learn so much about the wide diversity and skills of its quite remarkable workforce. As High Sheriff I have been privileged to meet a wide cross section of people across the County and I have been struck by how much the Marshall Group means to so many people, not least for the major contribution it makes to employment and skills in the region, as well as for its considerable work in a wide variety of community projects.’

Mrs Walkinshaw has strong links with Marshall of Cambridge. Her husband, Christopher, works for the Company and is the stepson of Sir Michael Marshall. Remarkably Penelope is the third member of the family to be High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire in the past 42 years; Sir Arthur Marshall was High Sheriff in 1969 and her father-in-law, Sir Michael Marshall held the same office in 1988.
