DragonLight Films is proud to announce that the film Six Inches of Soil is officially arriving in cinemas from 19th March, starting with its Cambridge premiere.

Last year, in April, the team launched a second crowdfunder to raise funds to finish the film, and finish we did! The film is now screening around the UK in 13 Picturehouse cinemas as part of their green screen tour and 70+ community screenings.

The film tells the inspiring story of young British farmers standing up against the industrial food system and transforming how they produce food - to heal the soil, our health, and to provide for local communities.

DragonLight films has produced the film alongside a passionate team of volunteers including producer Claire Mackenzie. The Cambridge based production company specialises in documentary and corporate films for the science, technology and environmental sectors.

We've been blown over by the amount of positive praise and audience engagement with the film, with several preview screenings sold out at farms and other sites UK-wide. To be screening the film in cinemas across the country AND have them sell out in weeks is something we are immensely proud of. Many of the screenings will include panel Q&As with the director/producer and discussions with experts about the issues in the film.

Colin Ramsay, Founder, DragonLight Films, and Director of Six Inches of Soil, said: "I wanted to tell this story because I was inspired. In the past, I’ve had feelings of sadness and apathy about society’s response to climate change, but through experiencing regenerative agriculture, I found hope. Seeing what’s possible on a farm, the amazing farmers who grow our food, nurture the soil and are feeding the roots of a food and farming revolution.

“Six Inches of Soil weaves together the human stories of brave new farmers trying to change a system with the wider social and environmental issues we need to address. The story of food, farming and connection to nature is a story we can all relate to, and I’m hopeful that audiences will see the film and see that change is possible."
