Greater Cambridge Partnership are looking to better understand changes to people’s travel behaviours as a result of the trail, the wider benefits the new route has created and people’s overall satisfaction with the route since it opened in 2021.
The information collected from the survey will be used alongside other evidence to understand the impacts of Phase 1 of the Chisholm Trail, how it has improved connectivity between different areas of Cambridge and help us to develop schemes in the future.
Niamh Matthews, Assistant Director of Strategy and Programme at the Greater Cambridge Partnership, said: “Phase 1 of the Chisholm Trail opened in 2021 and since then thousands of trips have used the route to get about their daily lives. Whether it has been cycling to work, walking the dog, taking children to school or just going out to stretch the legs, the Trail has changed the way many move around the city. Our survey is looking to understand the impact the route has had and what those who use it think.
As one of the first projects which we completed, the Chisholm Trail has become well loved by all who used it every day so we are keen to evaluate the difference it is making. Feedback from the people who use our schemes is vital as we look to make journeys across Cambridge better.”
A team will be out on the trail on several days in late July handing out postcards with a link to a survey for online completion, and cyclists and walkers will also able to answer questions at the time, if this is more convenient.
The survey is completely anonymous and does not ask for any contact details. Responses to this survey will be collected by independent experts on behalf of GCP but will not be passed on to any other third party.
