Howard Group makes strategic hire with appointment of Fred Murphy as Asset Manager

Property investment and development company Howard Group announces the appointment of Fred Murphy MRICS as Asset Manager.

Fred, who joined Howard Group in May 2022, is a chartered surveyor with experience in asset management, development, and investment activity across office, retail and residential sectors and has a keen interest in environmental sustainability.

Reporting to Katherine Friend, Director – Investment & Asset Management, Fred will be responsible for driving the value and income of the Group’s property investment portfolio, in line with its financial, environmental and social responsibilities as a long-term investor in people, places and ideas.

Fred joins Howard Group from Alchemy Asset Management, a boutique asset manager focussed on the office sector in London and the South East. Prior to this, Fred spent time with both Cushman & Wakefield and Landsec. He holds a master’s degree in real estate from the University of Reading and a philosophy degree from the University of Leeds.

Fred’s initial focus will be on asset level business planning including sustainability initiatives across Howard Group’s asset base which includes its 11.5-acre urban innovation district in Sawston, Unity Campus.
