Industry meets emerging science at the Hauser Forum

Cambridge is home to some amazing scientific and technological breakthroughs, but we don't often hear about them until they are commercialised. That's why a Cambridge Network event this month promises exciting insight: members have the opportunity to hear about emerging work from a group of Cambridge University PhDs and post docs, who will highlight their research in a series of two-minute explanations.

World class science is often not seen by local companies until someone from outside swoops in to sponsor or buy it. Cambridge Network wants to show some of the emerging work that is developing here in Cambridge, so this event on Tuesday January 20th will showcase a mix of disciplines, and one of the ideas may spark something relevant to your future.  A series of 20-30 succinct two-minute explanations will be followed by networking and the opportunity to meet up for more depth if you spot something of interest.

Co-chaired by Professor Sir Mark Welland (pictured), head of Cambridge University's Nanoscience Centre, and Cambridge Network Founder and Director Dr Hermann Hauser, the shotgun explanations will give key messages from each project, as well as their envisaged applications and impact.

Presentations will be followed by some mingling and discussion in the Hauser Forum West Café, designed to bring Cambridge research to the attention of local businesses.

The event, free to all Network members, takes place from 5.30-8pm at The Hauser Forum, 3 Charles Babbage Road, Cambridge CB3 0GT.
