Cambridge, 30 April 2024 - IQGeo, a developer of geospatial software that is “Building better networks” for telecom and utility operators, announces that for the third consecutive year it has completed its annual Carbon Assessment and received “Carbon Neutral Organisation” status for 2023. Following a best practice framework from the Defra/BEIS and Greenhouse Gas Protocol reporting standards, IQGeo completed a thorough carbon footprint analysis and offset it’s carbon emissions through a portfolio of global projects.
Working with its auditing partner Carbon Footprint Ltd. the carbon footprint for IQGeo’s global business was assessed, documenting the tonnes of carbon produced by the company’s office-based and travel activities. As the company grows, IQGeo is working to mitigate carbon emissions and for the second consecutive year was able to report a year-on-year decline in carbon emission per employee.
IQGeo was awarded Carbon Neutral Organisation Certification for 2023 by offsetting the total tonnes of carbon generated during the year through its support of high-quality, certified carbon offsetting projects. This was achieved by investing in a portfolio of carbon reduction projects in Europe, Africa, India, and Southeast Asia. The selected projects meet the Gold Standard or Verified Carbon Standard, two of the highest international standards for carbon credits, and comply with the stringent requirements of the Quality Assurance Standard (QAS) for Carbon Offsetting.
In addition to its carbon offsetting program, IQGeo participated in a UK-based environmental initiative in which it sponsored the planting of two trees for every employee as part of a project managed by UK Tree Planting. Verified by Carbon Footprint Ltd, the project is planting thousands of trees at schools and biodiversity sites across the UK.
“Since its baseline reporting year, IQGeo has shown success in carbon management, even as the business continues to grow.” explained Dr Wendy Buckley, Client Director, Carbon Footprint Ltd. “The company has recently completed its fifth annual carbon footprint appraisal, and it showed a reduction in emissions per turnover and per employee since the baseline year. As part of its efforts to be environmentally conscious and to show accountability for its own climate change impacts, the company has supported multiple certified carbon offsetting projects in addition to the UK Tree Planting project, maintaining its carbon neutral status.”
Richard Petti, CEO at IQGeo explained: “Together with our employees, customers and partners we are ‘Building better networks’ that provide broadband communication and transform electric utility grids that enable the net zero carbon economy of the future. IQGeo’s latest carbon neutral certification is fundamental to how we operate our business internally and our external mission to improve the lives and environment of people around the world.”
