Three Breakfast Networking events are planned.
The first - Learn how to defend your company from digital threats on Wednesday June 3rd (08-10:30) - is aimed at members who live and work along the A14 corridor towards Peterborough, so it is taking place at the Alconbury Enterprise Campus (Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, PE28 4WX). The focus of this session will be on uninformed users who can do harm to an internal or company communications network by visiting websites infected with malware, responding to phishing e-mails, storing their login information in an unsecured location, or even giving out sensitive information over the phone. The speaker is Michael J. Yardley, IT and systems manager at Cambridge Enterprise Ltd, University of Cambridge. Originally a life skills trainer, and then a human resources manager, Michael partially changed career again by focusing his staff management and psychology training on the Information Technology sector. Michael has managed a diverse array of projects during his career and has a personal interest in human-centred computing. Find out more and sign up here |
The following week, Network members have the opportunity to discover how to get the best promotional opportunities from the new Cambridge TV channel. The Making Video Content seminar on Thursday June 11th (08-10:30) at the usual venue of the Hauser Forum (3 Charles Babbage Road, Cambridge, CB3 0GT) will also give you the chance to learn how to improve your TV presentation techniques, make your own content suitable for broadcast on air and online, and discover how to pitch ideas to broadcasters and production companies. Leading the session will be Carl Homer and Bob Coates, directors of Cambridge TV, the new Ofcom-licensed channel for Cambridge, launching in July 2015 on Freeview channel 8, Virgin Media and online. They say: "We're creating television that makes you think, highlighting the best in Cambridge arts, science, business and culture for bright, curious viewers locally and around the world." They will share a lively two-part seminar explaining the purpose and proposed operation of Cambridge TV, demonstrating some of the pilot material so you can judge the quality for yourself, and explaining how to engage with future developments both in the channel and the Cambridge TV School (pictured). Taking place from 09.30-11.30 at the Hauser Forum (3 Charles Babbage Road, Cambridge, CB3 0GT), it will give you an introduction to communication including a look at the barriers, followed by a chance to try out your skills immediately in the subsequent 'Making the Most of Cambridge Network Membership' networking session (see below).
