The advanced training course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of mass spectral interpretation of LC-MS data. The course teaches a complete strategy, from the importance of obtaining high quality mass spectra, the fundamental tools and rules of interpretation, through to advanced tools.
From learning simple techniques to recognise and elucidate spectra, the course goes on to teach how to interpret the number of carbon atoms, heteroatoms and degree of unsaturation; and understand isotopes, isomers, logical losses, cleavages and rearrangements, to produce a mass spectral fingerprint of the compound.
Attendees will benefit from a greater understanding of how to interpret LC-MS mass spectra for the identification of unknowns and enhance their understanding of fragmentation patterns, to assist in accurate identification when using library search programs.
Approval from the RSC for CPD involves peer review of technical content and assessment of course materials, by experts in the field. The course content must adhere to rigorous quality standards and must demonstrate the constant appraisal and improvement of the course.
The approval underlines the high quality of Anthias’ training material, along with their robust process for review and improvement, via attendee feedback.
The course combines presentations to introduce the theory, with a high proportion of practical exercises to practise interpreting mass spectra under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
The training can be attended face-to-face, with the next available date on 20th – 22nd September 2022 at The University of Manchester – find out more about the Applied Interpretation of LC-MS Mass Spectra course and book now.
The course can also be accessed online via on-demand Virtual Classroom training – find out more and purchase on-demand access.
The advanced Applied Interpretation of LC-MS Mass Spectra course complements the range of Anthias training courses providing a complete training programme catering for all experience levels – the Absolute Basics of HPLC & LC-MS, Complete HPLC & LC-MS and Hands-on Complete HPLC & LC-MS, all of which are approved by the Royal Society of Chemistry for purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
