Chariots of Fire is one of Cambridgeshire’s largest annual charity events, taking place this year on Sunday 16 September at 9.30 am. Following in the footsteps of the famous film, the race takes a scenic route through the streets and colleges of Cambridge, with teams of six each running a 1.7 mile course in relay format. Lord Puttnam, creator of the film ‘Chariots of Fire’, started the race in 2003.
Workplace Law runners are raising money for Exhall Grange Specialist School in Coventry, adding to over £1,000 already raised from taking part in the London to Cambridge bike ride in July earlier this year. Exhall Grange Specialist School & Science College is a mixed, day Community Special School for pupils, from three to 19 years of age, with physical and/or sensory needs. Many pupils also have learning needs and complex medical conditions.
‘Legally Orange’ – the name chosen for the team of six runners taking part – have been in training, practising a 1.7 mile route weekly. Personal bests have been continually set and broken, resulting in an average completion time of just over 12 minutes – a time that should see them placed in the top half of the results table.
