It also launches its new website today.
Grahame is a well-regarded local businessman with over 30 years’ experience coupled with strong links to a wide range of different sectors and companies. Grahame was previously Chief Operating Officer at Marshall Aerospace and Chairman of Aeropeople Limited until last year, before leaving to run his own successful consulting company.
Mark Reeve, Former Interim Chair of the LEP, commented: “Grahame stood out to the appointments panel not only because of his experience and can do approach, but also because of his strong links with a wide range of our stakeholders – including Government, Business Representative Groups and local organisations. I am certain that Grahame will help to continue to push forward the work of our LEP and I look forward to working with him.”
Grahame Nix, Chair of the LEP, added: “I am looking forward to further developing the work of the LEP with the team and really start to push projects forward. We have firm foundations in place, and can now focus on breaking down the key barriers to economic growth that our area faces.
“It is an exciting time for the LEP with two successful Regional Growth Funding projects for Perkins and TWI being approved by Government, coupled with the news that Greater Cambridge can bid for a City Deal. Yesterday’s Heseltine Report also highlighted the growing importance of LEPs to the successful development of our economy, so I can’t think of a better time to join the team.”
In addition to working at Marshall, Grahame is involved with two not-for-profit Membership companies. Grahame was a Non-Exec Director of EEF Ltd, a leading membership services and representative body for the UK Manufacturing Industry from 2008 until 2012, and is now an Advisor to the Board. Grahame is also Deputy Chair of Council at TWI Ltd, a £60 million technology research company based just outside Cambridge.
The LEP also launched its new website on the same day the new Chair started, to make it even easier for visitors to find the information they require about the LEP, and the area it covers. The website also provides further opportunities for local businesses and organisations to get involved and have their say.
The website was developed by local marketing and branding agency, Method Creative, and can be found at www.yourlocalenterprisepartnership.co.uk
