Living Sport seeks volunteers for Colour Run 4th November - Milton Country Park

Are you looking for a really fun CSR opportunity and could you/your team be available on Thursday 4th November? Living Sport is hosting a Colour Run for 600 school children from across the county and it is reaching out for volunteers to help marshal on the day.

Colour Run

Kelly Vickers, Head of Business Development at Living Sport, writes:

The County School Games is a free-to-access offer for all schools in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.

In Summer 2021, the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough School Games underwent a re-structure in which the mission and outcomes transitioned from being a competitive focused offer to accommodate the ‘most-able’ to an offer which is fully inclusive and meets the needs and demands of all young people in the county, with particular emphasis on the under-represented and harder-to-reach groups and therefore more of a personal best focus.

The Cambridgeshire & Peterborough School Games colour run is a brand-new event, new for Autumn 2021. This will be targeted at predominantly the school years 7, 8 & 9 and more specifically those who have struggled with the primary to secondary school transitioning and anxiety following the Covid-19 pandemic. The event expects to welcome over 600 young people to Milton Country Park on Thursday 4th November 2021.

It is hoped that by facilitating and delivering the Colour Run event it can be an enabler for young people to find and develop their resilience, meet new people and improve their physical and mental wellbeing in a fun and safe environment.

There will be full representation from all Local Authority areas in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough (Cambridge City, South Cambs, East Cambs, Fenland, Huntingdonshire & Peterborough). As an additional strand to the event, one primary school from each of these Local Authority areas will be invited to bring their year 6 class, not only as a legacy of The Daily Mile which has been co-ordinated by Living Sport for many years but also to kick-start the transitioning work as the young people progress into secondary school the following year.

We hope to bring many partners in on the day, to include mental health charities, local athletics clubs, ‘Park Run’ representatives and more, which will not only add to the depth of the event but also display some of the opportunities available to these young people on their doorstep outside of their school day. We will also be capturing the event with professional videography and photography to ensure there is a longer lasting legacy.

If you/your team are available to support us, that would be amazing.

Please do get in touch with us.
