Conference Cambridge is complementing its existing portfolio of University and College venues, with the addition of a number of four star hotels and meeting facilities in and around the City in order to offer clients a wider selection.
The Associate Venue Membership initiative was officially launched at Murray Edwards College where new partner venues were given a half-day induction into how the partnership will be marketed in order to attract additional business.
Local venues already signed up include: Bedford Lodge Hotel, Newmarket; Cambridge Belfry; Cambridge City Hotel; Cambridge Union Society; Corn Exchange & Guildhall; Doubletree by Hilton; Duxford Imperial War Museum; Hotel Felix; Jockey Club Rooms, Newmarket; and University Arms Hotel.
These venues will now receive enquiries from event organisers using Conference Cambridge’s one-stop shop to find suitable facilities and availability to meet their individual meetings and conference requirements.
Kelly Vickers, Manager of Conference Cambridge said: “Our new Associate Venue Membership initiative has got off to a flying start with ten additional venues now partnering with us to help promote the widest possible range of what Cambridge and the surrounding area can offer. Early results are very encouraging – over the last month, we have booked twice as many events as during the same period last year.
“This initiative provides much needed term-time accommodation and meetings facilities for residential events. This area is an increasingly popular destination with companies and organisations from all over the world and our new initiative means that we will be able to attract more business and revenue to the City”.
Amy Parnell, Sales Manager, Cambridge City Hotel added: “Cambridge City Hotel is thrilled about the new venture and being part of the Conference Cambridge Associate Venue Programme. We have already seen an increase in volume of enquiries and indeed conversion rates. Overall, it is great to be a part of something that will enable all venues to work together to benefit Cambridge and ultimately drive more business into our City. “
