Conference Cambridge, the official venue finding service for the University and the Colleges, is reporting a 6% rise in the number of enquiries taken from London-based corporates and a 13% increase in the number of enquiries converting into actual events.
Corporate organisations holding events in Cambridge are primarily financial, law and consultancy companies, with the most popular type of event being one-day meetings.
Feedback from companies who have come out of London for their internal or external events highlights the draw of being able to experience exclusive private dining in world-famous locations, the ideal ambience of academic venues for learning and all less than one hour’s travelling time from London.
Judith Sloane, Deputy Manager at Conference Cambridge said: “We all appreciate the benefits that Cambridge has to offer and its attraction as a meetings destination is now spreading to London where companies are looking to escape the city for a day or two. The range of venues and facilities on offer means that there is something to suit every requirement, along with unique experiences for delegates such as punting and College tours.
“Cambridge’s venues are also unsurprisingly a popular choice for London-based organisations wishing to hold graduate recruitment events in the city. A recent partnership with Cambridge University’s Careers Service has resulted in a new, quick and streamlined enquiry process for recruiters who will now be able to check availability at all suitable venues with a single enquiry.
“We are exhibiting at Square Meal in London for the first time to build on this trend and to showcase our excellent facilities for meetings, team-building events and exclusive fine dining to a wider range of clients. With award-winning cuisine, historical venues and outstanding areas of green space, Cambridge really does deliver as a destination to remember”.
