At the event, Domino unveiled the Ax-Series, a new range of continuous ink jet (CIJ) printers suitable for the most demanding industrial packaging environments, designed and built by its team based at Bar Hill.
The UK customers attending – including global and FMCG brands, industrial and machine manufacturers – were able to see at first-hand the new series which will reset customer expectations of productivity, quality and cost of ownership.
The day comprised an introduction and presentation on the Ax-Series by Michael Hurst, UK General Manager; product demonstrations by Nick Plaister, Product Director, Continuous Ink Jet and his team; and a tour of Domino’s award-winning factory by Carl Haycock, UK Printer Operations Director.
A further session – run by James Murtagh, Product Marketing Manager for Software and Solutions – focused on the theme of ‘Industry 4.0’ and ‘smart factories’, demonstrating how Domino Cloud can enable fast fault resolution through remote diagnostics and monitoring.
The Ax-Series rewrites the rules of coding and marking by revisiting the underlying science behind CIJ – as well as introducing innovations in three key areas: the
i-Pulse print head and inks, the i-Techx electronics and software platform and Domino Design, which maximises productivity and ease of operation.
Chris Thorpe, UK Marketing Manager at Domino said: “CIJ remains the coding solution of choice across many markets and industries, but we saw the opportunity to rethink three fundamental elements of the technology to deliver measurable benefits for customers and change the way CIJ is perceived.
“With the new Ax-Series, Domino can now offer a choice of CIJ systems that will set new benchmarks for consistent high quality printing, productivity and cost of ownership, making CIJ a future-proof investment.”
The i-Pulse print head controls individual ink drop formation to create the perfect drop every time, delivering significant advances in droplet accuracy, placement and ink usage for reliable, high-speed and consistent code quality.
i-Techx is Domino’s new flexible, high-performance electronics and software platform and designed to eliminate coding errors by enabling the smooth integration of the Ax-Series into the production line and service support environment while taking usability to a new level.
The third innovation is Domino Design which delivers a step change on the current generation of CIJ printers in the market with printers that are robust, reliable and easy to use in the harshest environments, including wash-down conditions and protection against steam and contaminants.
