The company secured the ‘Aerospace and Defence Award’, for a second consecutive year, with the judges recognising Marshall’s “…commitment to innovation [which] gives the company a real competitive edge and [which has] seen it break into new markets and achieve technological breakthroughs.”
The second award, ‘Apprenticeship and Training Scheme’, was secured by Aeropeople, part of Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, in recognition of how it invests heavily in training programmes. The judges felt the company’s “…absolute commitment to the skills agenda in the region is a shining example of what can be done and how the region’s workforce can be trained to meet the high demands of today’s competitive, global marketplace.”
Marshall established its apprentice training programme in 1920, since when the company has trained more than 10,000 apprentices.
Steve Fitz-Gerald, CEO of Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, comments: “These Made in England awards recognise not only our achievements in supporting our customers in the commercial, civil and military marketplace but also our ongoing commitment to our apprenticeship programme, and many of our senior managers started out as Marshall apprentices.”
As winners of the local awards, Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group and Aeropeople will go forward to represent the region in the national Made in England finals, to be held in Liverpool later this year.

Marshall receives two ‘Made in England’ awards

Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group has received two prestigious Insider ‘Made in England’ awards, which were established in partnership with South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) and are part of a wider national campaign to recognise excellence in manufacturing.
