UNRWA approached Media Managers to assist with the TV advertising campaign in order to highlight the plight of the most vulnerable civilians in Syria, such as the 500,000 Palestinians in the country. The brief included production of a 30-second commercial and placing airtime on national TV.
The aim of the campaign is to increase awareness and raise funds that will be used to provide shelter, food and medicine for those affected by the armed conflict in Syria.
Both Media Managers and TV production company John Mountford Studios gave their services free of charge to edit a 30-second TV advertisement and secure placements on Channel 4 and Sky News. UNRWA hopes this campaign will boost understanding of the crisis in Syria as well as raising much-needed funds to improve the conditions of the Palestine refugees caught in the crossfire in camps throughout the country.
Commenting, CEO of Media Managers, Alistair Wayne, said: “The opportunity to help people who find themselves in such desperate circumstances was really compelling. Our friends at John Mountford Studios rose to the challenge and we are also grateful to our media team in Norwich, who made it all happen. Working with UNRWA is a tremendous honour and we sincerely hope that the campaign will help make a difference to reduce the suffering in Syria.”
UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness said: “Media Managers and John Mountford Studios have worked with us to produce and broadcast a sequence that is at once beautiful, disturbing and compelling.”
The commercials will air between 30 October and 2 November on Sky News and Channel 4 in their lunchtime bulletins.
